The BlackademX Academy, BXA, is built for audiences who are hungry to see what great
teaching looks like, not just hear about it. It’s fast paced, emotionally honest, and grounded in the real work of educators who are shaping minds, culture, and confidence every day.
To flip the script on teaching by making culturally responsive instruction, student voice, and evidence of learning visible, celebrated, and mainstream, so every community can see what excellent teaching looks like in real time.
To shift the public narrative about what is possible in classrooms, especially for Black and Brown children and their peers, by spotlighting joyful innovation, instructional excellence, and student agency, and by building a culture where great teaching is recognized, replicated, and funded.
The BlackademX Academy was born from an inspired moment in academia. Dr. Qiana O’Leary and Dr. Ijeoma Ononuju were co teaching a graduate course and challenged students to deliver culturally responsive lessons with creativity and rigor. The innovation and joy they witnessed sparked a bigger idea, a show where educators demonstrate, not just describe, inclusive driven instruction. When the team envisioned a host with energy and educational savvy, Dr. Ijeoma called Ernani Santos, who joined as host and third co creator
What started as a bold vision is becoming a full enterprise. We’re expanding beyond the show to build an ecosystem that supports classrooms through digital tools and apps, professional development, and merch.
